Software Architect – Domain Architecture / Digital Business Platform

Project overview

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are currently looking for an experienced Software Architect for our direct client for the conception and development of a modular, cloud-based digital business platform.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of complex business requirements and transfer into a technical architecture
• Structuring of business domains and definition of responsibilities and boundaries
• Definition of service, module, and data responsibilities
• Design of REST APIs, possibly GraphQL interfaces and events
• Conception of service-oriented and event-based architectures
• Application of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal Architecture, and CQRS
• Evaluation and documentation of architectural and technology decisions
• Consideration of data modeling, data consistency, and transactions across service boundaries
• Integration of security, tenant separation, and data protection
• Consideration of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies
• Architectural support for backend development with Quarkus and web development with Next.js
• Conducting architecture and code reviews as well as technical sparring
• Coordination with business departments, product owners, and development teams

We are not looking for an architect whose focus is exclusively on migrating, modernizing, or integrating existing systems.

What is crucial is demonstrable experience in independently structuring a complex business domain from scratch and deriving a viable technical architecture from it.

Project experience in defining business domain boundaries, service and module responsibilities, data ownership, as well as APIs and events is particularly relevant. Equally important are the coordination of architectural decisions with business departments and product owners, as well as practical support for the technical implementation.

• Several years of experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect, or in a comparable role
• Sound practical knowledge in Java and Quarkus
• Experience with Next.js and modern web architectures
• Demonstrable experience in structuring complex domains technically and functionally from scratch
• Knowledge of service-oriented architectures, DDD, Hexagonal Architecture, and CQRS
• Experience with REST APIs, cross-service interfaces, and event-driven architecture, ideally Kafka
• Knowledge in data modeling, data consistency, Hibernate, and PostgreSQL
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of security, tenant separation, and data protection
• Experience with Greenfield projects, new developments, or fundamental new concepts
• Hands-on mentality and experience in practical support of development teams
• Strong communication skills and very good German language skills
• Ideally, experience in the healthcare sector or in regulated, data protection-sensitive environments

Project Environment

Several agile development teams are developing functionally delimited domains and integrating them into an overarching platform for different user groups. The focus is on translating complex business requirements into a scalable, secure, and long-term maintainable software architecture.

Technologically, Quarkus and Next.js are used in particular. We are looking for a personality who independently structures business domains, makes technical architectural decisions, and accompanies their implementation together with the development teams.
