Application Architect

Project overview

Our client based in Annecy is looking for an Application Architect to join their IT department.

Reporting to the principal architect, you will play a consulting and governance role. With the architecture review committee, you will be responsible for architectural validation. The position also requires real operational skills in integration; you will need to take on a significant portion of the integration workload at the project level currently handled by the EA team.

Let's talk about you

• Review project and solution designs against group architecture principles, reference architectures, and integration standards.
• Produce and challenge architectural decision records (ADRs); document justifications, alternatives, and trade-offs.
• Prepare and present cases to the architecture review committee; monitor exceptions and technical debt.
• Contribute to updating principles, patterns, and standards, as well as the EA repository (SAP LeanIX).
• Get into technical details and directly contribute to the design of API and event-driven integrations, data flows, prototypes, and proofs of concept (PoCs).
• Ensure technical arbitration with development teams and external integrators.
• Support architect teams on integration at the project level.
• Provide architectural guidance for projects in the "Core Systems" domain (ERP, supply chain, demand planning and scheduling, logistics).
• Define solution options, integration designs, and data flows in collaboration with project teams and external integrators.
• Ensure alignment between project-level decisions and the target architecture.
• Act as an architectural point of contact for the AI platform initiative, where applicable: agent hosting, AI gateway, RAG models, MCP-based integration, guardrails, costs, and observability.
• Contribute to developing architectural models for AI-based use cases and autonomous agents.
• Evaluate AI use cases in terms of feasibility, integration impact, and platform fit.
• You have significant experience of over 8 years in IT architecture broadly defined: solution architecture, integration in an agile context (SAFe or equivalent), ideally in the retail or sports sectors.
• Your experience and breadth of skills will take precedence over the exact job title.
• You are capable of reviewing others' designs and justifying architectural choices to development teams, vendors, and management.
• You possess strong operational skills in cloud-native and integration architecture: AWS, APIs, event-driven patterns, microservices.
• You have proven experience in AI architecture with implemented solutions (RAG, agents, LLM gateways, prompt and context management, consideration of costs and security).
• Experience in the supply chain and demand planning domain (SAP ECC or S/4HANA, o9, or equivalent planning platforms) will be appreciated.
• Good command of English (working language), both spoken and written, is required for this position.
