The municipality of Venlo is looking for an Architectural Heritage Advisor.

The Position

Architectural Heritage Advisor The Municipality of Venlo, team Land Registry and Real Estate is looking for temporary reinforcement with an Architectural Heritage Advisor for an average of 8-12 hours per week, for the period from September 2026 to June 2027, partly depending on project progress.

Work on the maintenance and restoration of heritage can only be carried out during the specified months.

Will you help build Venlo? Team Land Registry and Real Estate Team Land Registry and Real Estate is responsible for the issuance, acquisition, and management of municipal real estate, both built and unbuilt.

Based on a vision for careful space utilization, we continue to build a healthy and more sustainable municipal real estate portfolio. Venlo has a relatively large portfolio of over 250 buildings. The Architectural Heritage Advisor: You will work closely with the Quality Team and the Construction Team for the realization of the renovation/restoration of the Venlo town hall.

You will not shy away from the complexity of the project: you have a broad perspective and can switch gears quickly.

• Participating in work meetings and construction meetings;
• Assessing and advising on the execution of restoration work, providing solicited and unsolicited advice regarding quality control and the contractor's work methodology;
• Monitoring the monumental quality when adapting installations and implementing sustainability measures;
• Making proposals (within the field) to realize as many of the desired adjustments and measures as possible;
• Supporting and advising the project management, including checking quotes and budgets, assessing material samples, and approving materials and work methods;
• Assessing and delivering the final product of the renovation and restoration components in collaboration with the heritage policy advisor, the building historian, and the management. You will report to the involved project manager.
• You have academic and practical work and thinking level and at least 10 years of relevant work experience. It is a requirement that you have previously worked in the restoration of national monuments for a municipality;
• You have an extensive network in the relevant sector and communicate easily and to the point at all levels within it;
• You master the Dutch language, act proactively, are reliable, work accurately, and collaboration is self-evident for you;
• You are willing to perform your duties at varying times and workdays on location in Venlo;
• You are available during the specified period.
