Administer, optimize, and secure Mainframe Db2 for z/OS databases for a major client.

As part of the administration, evolution, and Operational Maintenance (MCO) of our partner's Mainframe infrastructures, we are looking for an experienced DB2 z/OS Systems Engineer. At the heart of the central IT architecture, your role will be crucial and strategic: you will ensure the evolution of structures, the availability, performance, backup, and technical consistency of Db2 for z/OS application databases supporting the group's critical applications.

Your Future Environment

You will work at the Gradignan (33) site within the Mainframe engineering and production department. In constant contact with z/OS systems engineers, Mainframe operations teams, data architects, and application development teams, you will be the technical referent for the Db2 for z/OS ecosystem. You will work on a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week on the client site in Gradignan, 2 days remote work), in a structured environment applying ITIL best practices (no out-of-hours on-call duty required).

Your Key Missions

DB2 Engineering, Administration & Optimization (BUILD & TUNING Mode):

N3 Support, Incident Management & Operations (RUN & PROCESS Mode):

• Create, manage, and evolve the structures of Db2 for z/OS application databases.
• Analyze, diagnose, and optimize application performance and SQL query consumption (Db2 tuning & monitoring).
• Implement and maintain backup and restore strategies for Db2 application objects.
• Anticipate and address the obsolescence of Db2 application objects and participate in version upgrade/migration projects.
• Ensure the copying, refreshing, and provisioning of non-production environments (testing, qualification, development).
• Participate in security audits, business continuity plans (BCP), and execute disaster recovery test scenarios.
• Provide high-expertise Level 3 (N3) technical support to business, project, and application teams.
• Actively contribute to resolving complex application incidents on the Mainframe z/OS platform.
• Write and develop administration and automation processes using JCL and REXX scripts.
• Monitor operations job scheduling using TWS (IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler).
• Ensure strict adherence to ITIL production processes and monitor tickets using the group's ITSM tools.

• Education: Engineering degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems Engineering (or equivalent z/OS experience validated by solid experience).
• Experience: You have solid and confirmed experience of at least 5 to 8 years (experienced profile) in database engineering and Db2 for z/OS systems administration in a large enterprise Mainframe environment.
• Imperative Mainframe Technical Expertise:
• In-depth mastery of Db2 for z/OS administration and tuning.
• Excellent practical knowledge of the z/OS environment, JCL control language, and REXX scripting.
• Mastery of SQL and native Db2 for z/OS administration, maintenance, and performance monitoring tools/utilities (e.g., IBM OMEGAMON, BMC MainView, CA/Broadcom, Platinum).
• Solid experience with the TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler) scheduler and management of DB2 backup/restore utilities (IMAGE COPY, RECOVER).
• Complementary Skills & Languages:
• Good knowledge of professional English (documentation and international exchanges).
• Mastery of ITIL processes and ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira).
• Rigorous mindset, methodical approach, excellent analytical skills, and teamwork.
• Mainframe Tuning Excellence: Ability to quickly identify SQL bottlenecks or indexing issues to reduce CPU/MIPS consumption.
• Rigor and Production Culture: Strict adherence to intervention windows and quality assurance procedures in banking/insurance environments.
• Relational Ease: Ability to communicate clearly with application developers to advise them on modeling and writing their Db2 queries.
