Interim Head of Construction Projects

Project overview

We are looking for an interim unit manager for our client.

Background to the need:

The regular unit manager has chosen to leave their position for another assignment. Recruitment of a replacement has begun.

Assignment description:

Real Estate Management is responsible for developing, owning, and managing Lund Municipality's properties and premises. The department is in an exciting development phase with a focus on long-term value creation, sustainable property ownership, and efficient working methods.

The Construction Projects unit is responsible for carrying out the investments that develop and adapt the municipality's properties for future needs. Through professional project management, structured governance, and close collaboration with the operations, the unit creates conditions for sustainable, functional, and cost-effective premises for Lund Municipality's residents and employees.

The unit is responsible for the planning, leadership, and execution of Real Estate Management's new construction, extension, and renovation projects. You will be responsible for the project portfolio, resource planning, and consistent working methods, ensuring that projects are completed with the right quality, within approved financial frameworks, and according to established schedules.

The role involves many points of contact and close collaboration with the municipality's operations, property managers, technical specialists, contractors, and other external stakeholders. You are also responsible for ensuring that projects are handed over with the correct function, quality, and documentation to create the best possible long-term value for the municipality.

• At least five years of relevant experience from qualified construction, project, or real estate operations
• At least three years of experience as a manager or in another leadership role with personnel responsibility
• Experience in leading major new construction, extension, or renovation projects
• Experience in managing a project portfolio with responsibility for finance, time, quality, risk, and resources
• Experience in leading project managers or other qualified project and specialist functions
• Good knowledge of construction and project processes from planning and design to execution and handover
• Good knowledge of project management, project governance, risk management, and resource planning
• Good financial understanding and ability to work with budgets, forecasts, and financial follow-up
• Good knowledge of construction law, procurement, and common contract forms
• Good understanding of technical quality, work environment, and long-term manageability
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Experience from municipal operations or other politically controlled organizations, major public property projects, or projects in operationally critical environments is meritorious.
• Experience with sustainability and climate control in construction projects, investment projects with political decision points, and knowledge of municipal investment management, BIM-based working methods, and life cycle economics is also meritorious.

Project details

On-site in Lund. Remote work is possible to some extent if the work allows.

Option: Options are available for 3 months at a time, maximum until 2026-08-31. Options are at the same prevailing conditions.

Compensation form: Running hours. No compensation is paid for travel or travel time.
