Context

Within the Oney Lille system engineering team, the Linux N3 Engineer ensures the stability, security, and performance of Linux infrastructures (physical, virtual, and cloud).

Working Conditions

• Ensure the operational maintenance (MCO) of critical Linux infrastructures.
• Act as an N3 expert on complex incidents.
• Lead Linux patching and version upgrades.
• Optimize server performance and capacity.
• Design and maintain Linux templates ("Golden Images").
• Industrialize provisioning using Terraform and Packer.
• Develop and maintain configuration automation with Ansible (or equivalent).
• Ensure the security, standardization, and automation of Linux environments.
• Mentor N1/N2 support teams, write operational procedures, document template architecture, and lead knowledge-sharing sessions.
• OS Expertise: Perfect mastery of enterprise distributions (RedHat Enterprise Linux / Rocky / Alma, Debian, Ubuntu), excellent understanding of Linux kernel internals, storage management (LVM, multipathing), and network protocols.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Mastery of Terraform and Packer (essential for creating image templates).
• Configuration Management: Expertise in Ansible (writing complex roles, Ansible Tower / AWX).
• Scripting: Excellent mastery of Bash and Python or Go for system tooling.
• Virtualized / Cloud Environments: Knowledge of VMware vSphere and/or a public Cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Security: Knowledge in system hardening (CIS Benchmarks, SSH hardening, local Firewall configuration).
• Agility in Change: Adapts and seizes opportunities, easily moves from command-line diagnostics to resolution in a CI/CD pipeline, sees evolving practices as an opportunity.
• Culture of Innovation: Proposes, experiments, and actively monitors automation tools, new Linux distributions, and containerization methods.
• AI Adoption: Integrates generative AI to gain efficiency (writing Ansible playbooks, validating and optimizing Terraform code, generating Bash/Python scripts, predictive analysis of system logs).
• Collaboration & Transmission: Shares knowledge, trains teams, writes clear procedures, and documents architectures.
