Policy Advisor Integration

Project overview

As a senior policy advisor, you will help shape Utrecht's integration policy.

Profile of the suited interim professional:

• Guide and shape the revision of Utrecht's approach to the 2021 Integration Act
• Advise management, directors, and the executive board on complex policy issues within the integration domain
• Act as the first point of contact for policy-related questions in this domain
• Monitor the progress of policy developments and maintain an overview of resources and results
• Coordinate daily activities within the Integration policy domain
• Contribute to national and regional lobbying efforts, including through the VNG and the G4 network
• Strengthen collaboration between policy, execution, management, and the executive board
• Connect integration policy with related themes such as reception, asylum, participation, and the social base
• Translate national developments into implementable municipal policy
• Build and maintain a network within and outside the organization
• Create executive support and organize decision-making in a political-administrative context
• University work and thinking level
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at university level
• Thorough knowledge of and practical experience with the 2021 Integration Act
• Work experience in a political-administrative context, preferably gained at a municipality
• Solid experience in policy development and advising the executive board
• Experience with project-based approaches and implementing complex changes
• Strong analytical skills and strategic overview
• Ability to switch between executive, management, policy, and execution
• Proactive and independent work attitude with a great sense of responsibility
• Perseverance and results orientation in a complex environment
• Experience in managing stakeholders and bringing together diverse interests
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficiency in the Dutch language
