Project overview

Working for the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek means working on 'the broad prosperity of our residents'. Broad, because prosperity can mean something different to everyone: for one it is plenty of green, for another a thriving economy, and for yet another an inclusive municipality. The municipality therefore works daily in many areas to ensure that residents can live, work, learn, and recreate safely, healthily, and happily.

Where will you work?

For example, the municipality does this by constructing and maintaining roads and cycle paths, issuing permits for the construction and renovation of homes, conducting marriages and partnerships, and realizing a completely new, sustainable business park. The municipality also ensures that everyone can participate in daily life as much as possible.

The living world of residents is full of daily big and small surprises. This requires the municipality to look closely at what is happening and to do what is really necessary. By stepping into the living world of the resident, the municipality can make good considerations: between individual interest and general interest, and between societal impact, financial resources, and laws and regulations.

With over 300 colleagues, divided into about 25 teams, the municipality is a very diverse club. People of various ages and educational backgrounds work at the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek. You will find generalists and specialists, doers, thinkers, and everything in between. However different the colleagues may be, they have a number of things in common: they are hard-working, responsible professionals who do not simply implement what the rules or policy prescribe, but continuously weigh options and make it a little bit more.

The municipality relies on the problem-solving capacity of society, without always wanting to be or provide the solution itself. The municipality also assumes that most people are good. The municipality works together with each other and with residents based on trust. Incidents will always happen, however unpleasant they may be. The art is to deal with them in a smart way: not to problematize or panic, but to see them as an opportunity to learn and to adjust the vision or working method if necessary.

• You handle principle requests and guide plan procedures.
• You represent the college of mayor and aldermen and the municipal council in legal proceedings on this subject.
• You contribute to the permanent environmental plan.
• You help set up and maintain the Policy House, with the environmental vision and programs.
• You contribute to an integral consideration of interests, so that functions are balanced across locations.
• You support the translation of visions and policy into applicable rules.
• You advise on new instruments of the Environmental Act.
• Demonstrable completed education at a minimum of HBO Bachelor level
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrable work experience as a policy advisor in a municipality
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrable work experience with the Environmental Act
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable work experience with conducting procedures
• Demonstrable work experience with change management
• You have demonstrable work experience managing teams
• You have demonstrable work experience with an environmental plan
• Demonstrable work experience in the last 10 years with the Environmental Act
• Demonstrable work experience in the last 10 years as a policy advisor in a municipality
