Jobbeschreibung
Seeking a Senior C++ Linux Embedded Developer with architectural experience to evolve and ensure the robustness of embedded software for traffic monitoring systems. The role involves working with both legacy and modern C++ code, debugging, and promoting best practices.
Project overview
The Lianeo Context
Lianeo, a consulting firm specializing in embedded systems and IoT, is recruiting on behalf of a French industrial partner that designs and manufactures traffic monitoring and analysis systems deployed on public roads. This engineering SME masters its entire chain: hardware design, algorithms, embedded software, and supervision applications.
The Client Context
The equipment includes cameras and lidars and relies on a significant layer of image and video stream processing. The embedded software, developed in C++ under Linux, operates in the field over long cycles. The code mixes a proven legacy base with modern C++ developments. The position joins the embedded development team with a key role: evolving the architecture of this software and ensuring its long-term robustness.

Work Environment
- Own the embedded software architecture: understand the existing system, propose and lead its evolution
- Dive into code that mixes legacy and modern C++, understand its logic, then decide what evolves, what is refactored, and what remains as is
- Treat robustness as an architectural issue: memory management, error handling, degraded mode behavior
- Dedicate approximately 30% of your time to anomalies, both those from SonarQube reports and those reported on products, tracing back to the root causes: a recurring anomaly provides insight into the design
- Correct without regression, relying on unit tests, Python scripting, and debugging
- Disseminate good design and coding practices within the team
- Work with the algorithm and test and validation teams on integrating evolutions
- Software architecture and design, design patterns
- Modern C++, and proficiency with legacy C/C++ code
- Embedded Linux
- Python for scripting: tests, tooling, automation
- Static code analysis: SonarQube or equivalent tool
- Debugging and memory management: gdb, detection and correction of memory leaks
- Testing: GoogleTest or equivalent
- Communication buses and protocols: I2C, UDP
- Appreciated: camera and lidar-based systems, image processing, notions of Python/Django
- Ability to map code you haven't written and understand its logic
- Ability to make trade-offs between redesign and stability for a deployed product
- Rigor regarding non-regression
- Ability to get experienced developers to adopt new practices
- Senior experience in C++ development under embedded Linux with a true architectural dimension, 8 years minimum
- Taking over and evolving existing code, from legacy to modern C++
- Python for scripting
- Debugging, memory management, and static analysis (SonarQube or equivalent)
- Commitment to the 30% of time dedicated to anomalies (SAST)
- Fluent French, the team's working language
- Technical English reading comprehension
- Permanent contract or freelance, at our partner's site
- Location: Versailles (78)
- Remote work: hybrid, 2 days per week
- Start date: ASAP
- Integration into the embedded development team, in coordination with the algorithm and test and validation teams
- Position open to people with disabilities
