Technical Assessor Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)

Project overview

As a Technical Assessor, you will support the RvA in assessing verification bodies within the CBAM framework.

Profile of the suited interim professional:

• Assessing verification bodies that check emissions reports of CBAM goods
• Testing the expertise, processes, independence, and technical competencies of these bodies
• Collaborating with a Lead Assessor on conformity assessment
• Testing against the EN ISO/IEC 17029 standard and applicable laws and regulations
• Conducting office investigations and site visits, initially under supervision
• Traveling to international locations for assessments at verification bodies
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience within one of the EU ETS activity groups
• Demonstrable experience with product categories such as iron and steel, cement, fertilizers, aluminum, electricity, or hydrogen
• Knowledge of direct and indirect emissions in production processes
• Knowledge of emissions trading systems, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon pricing, and monitoring systems
• Experience with assessments, audits, or verifications is a plus
• Knowledge of the CBAM regulations
• Understanding of conformity assessment processes and verification schemes
• Independent judgment
• Strong communication skills and ability to clearly report complex technical issues
• Professional command of the Dutch and English languages
• Willingness to travel worldwide
