The position

As a Technical Legal Advisor, you are the specialist. You contribute to issues related to risk-based policy formation and the operational actions of Gasunie. The issues relate to environmental laws and regulations concerning our (Seveso) installations and concern both the management of our assets and the realization of new assets.

From your knowledge level, you seek new, original solutions with economic awareness. These solutions are sometimes at the daily operational level, but also influence new business or the operations of Gasunie. At the same time, you ensure a reliable image and a good social position for Gasunie.

About the company

Gasunie is a network company for energy. In the Netherlands and Northern Germany, we manage and maintain the infrastructure for large-scale gas transport and storage. Currently, this is mainly natural gas. With the energy transition, this will increasingly shift towards green gas and hydrogen. We also participate in the construction and management of networks for heat and CO₂. We ensure that this part of the energy supply is carried out safely, uninterruptedly, and as sustainably as possible. So that everyone always has access to energy.

The Expertise Center Environment department is a versatile department within Gasunie that focuses on managing and optimizing environmental issues applicable throughout the country. The department plays a central role in ensuring sustainable and responsible environmental management and currently consists of 40 employees.

You will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining a legal position for the assets, advising on permit applications, and establishing the connection between technology and laws and regulations (with a focus on environmental aspects).

What you bring

To be successful as a Technical Legal Advisor, we ask for the following:

• You have a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree with extensive relevant work experience and preferably operate at an WO (university) work and thinking level.
• You have knowledge of technical assets, especially installations, and business processes.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply environmental laws and regulations (air, external safety, noise, hazardous substances, soil, water, and waste).
• You have excellent advisory skills and good oral and written communication skills.
• You understand decision-making processes and can handle different interests well.
• You are willing to work and travel in the Netherlands.
• Salary: € 5,903 to € 8,070 gross per month (based on 36 hours)
• Hours: 32–40 hours per week
• Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extension
• 13th and 14th month: fixed payout
• Vacation days: 20 days, extendable up to a maximum of 27.5 extra days via the flexible budget
• Flexible budget: in accordance with Gasunie employment conditions
• Travel expenses reimbursement: € 0.23 per kilometer
• Home office allowance: € 24.50 net per month
• Workplace: Utrecht, hybrid working
• Employment: employment or ZZP (freelancer) possible
