Role Description

For the role of AI Solution & Platform Engineer, we are looking for an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of building and operating AI platforms in cloud and on-premises environments. The focus is on the conception, integration, and operation of AI solutions and enabling internal teams in the public sector, including in the academic environment.

Responsibilities

• AI Service Design & Solution Engineering: Consulting, analysis, and conception of AI services, solution architectures, and operating models, evaluations, pilot projects, and technology assessments
• AI Platforms & Infrastructure: Building, further developing, and operating AI platforms and technical base services in cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments
• AI Solutions & Integration: Development, configuration, and integration of AI solutions, AI agents, and automations into existing systems, processes, and data sources
• AI Operation & Service Management: Operation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI services, service lifecycle management, error analysis, and quality management
• Governance, Security & Compliance: Implementation of requirements for data protection, information security, compliance, and responsible use of AI, risk analyses, and security concepts
• Knowledge Transfer & Enablement: Know-how transfer, coaching, and training for building internal AI competencies

Requirements

• Professional experience in IT architecture, cloud, system, platform, or software engineering according to competence level – Professional from 3 years, Senior from 5 years, Expert from 8 years
• Completed university degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
• Proven experience in the design, construction, and operation of AI/IT architectures and AI platforms for scalable, secure cloud, on-premises, container, and GPU environments
• Proven experience in several of the following areas: AI platforms and AI infrastructure on-premises and in the Microsoft Cloud, Cloud Engineering, System Engineering (Containers, Kubernetes/Docker, Identity and Access Management Systems), AI Engineering (MLOps, MCP, RAG, Data Pipelines), Platform Engineering, Software Engineering (APIs), Technical Project Management, Business Analysis, and Requirements Engineering
• Experience with open-source AI and systems
• Experience with Microsoft ecosystems (Microsoft 365, Azure, Copilot Studio, Power Platform) or comparable enterprise platforms
• Experience in integration, operation, and lifecycle processes
• Experience with AI security, data protection, information security, and governance requirements in the academic or enterprise environment
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills, structured, agile, and solution-oriented way of working
• Ability to present complex issues to the target audience and create decision bases and concepts
• High technical, consulting, communication, and moderation competence
• Very good spoken and written German skills (native or C1 certificate)
• Good to very good English skills in speaking and writing, at least B2 level
• Willingness to work on-site in the Zurich area by arrangement
• Agreement to further personnel checks for assignments in sensitive environments
