Project overview

This contract role is for an Apigee Developer building and supporting enterprise APIs and integrations. The core requirements are hands-on Google Apigee X and/or Apigee Edge, REST API design, Apigee proxies, policies and shared flows, API security, and backend integration. The role also covers API lifecycle management, CI/CD, monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaboration with application, architecture, cloud, security, and DevOps teams; Java, Python, Node.js, containers, Apigee migration, and monitoring tools are desirable extras. The structured experience band is 5–10 years, and the location is Kolkata.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, deploy, and maintain APIs using Google Apigee X / Apigee Edge.
• Develop and manage API Proxies, Shared Flows, API Products, Apps, policies, and environment configurations.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrations with backend applications, microservices, and cloud services.
• Implement API authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Configure Apigee security and traffic-management policies including Spike Arrest, Quota/Rate Limiting, Threat Protection, and Traffic Management.
• Implement request/response transformations using JSON, XML, JavaScript, and XSLT, as required.
• Implement reusable API functionality through shared flows and standardized policies.
• Manage the API lifecycle including versioning, deployment, publishing, monitoring, and decommissioning.
• Integrate Apigee APIs with enterprise backend applications and third-party services.
• Troubleshoot API errors, connectivity issues, policy failures, and performance/latency problems.
• Monitor API usage, operational metrics, logs, and analytics.
• Work with DevOps teams to automate API deployments through CI/CD pipelines.

• TLS/SSL and API security concepts
• Apigee traffic-management and security policies, including Spike Arrest, Quota/Rate Limiting, and Threat Protection
• JSON and XML handling, JavaScript, and API request/response transformations
• API lifecycle management, including versioning, deployment, publishing, monitoring, and decommissioning
• Backend, microservices, and third-party API integrations
• Git and CI/CD for API deployment
• API monitoring, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
• Understanding of microservices architecture and working knowledge of cloud environments, preferably GCP
