Project overview
Application Architect (Software Design and Structure)
6 months
2 days per week in Glasgow
£600 per day (Inside IR35)
My client, in the utilities sector are looking for an Application Architect to join their fast-paced team on an initial 6 month contract based out of Glasgow on a hybrid basis.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to define and guide the architecture of cloud-based business applications and data-driven solutions. The role will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions deployed on Azure, with a strong focus on Kubernetes-based platforms and integration with enterprise data services.

- Define application architecture and technical design standards for cloud-native solutions.
- Design and oversee solutions running on Kubernetes and Azure platform services.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate applications with data platforms, databases, and reporting solutions.
- Ensure solutions meet security, scalability, performance, and governance requirements.
- Support development teams through architecture reviews, technical guidance, and best practices.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solution designs.
- Experience as an Application Architect, Solution Architect, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized application architectures.
- Experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of data integration patterns, APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and database technologies.
- Experience working with enterprise data platforms such as Databricks, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of analytics and reporting platforms (eg, Power BI).
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Familiarity with modern data governance and cloud security practices.
