We are looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure & Security Architect with a focus on designing and documenting highly available and secure enterprise infrastructures for the defense sector, connecting to an existing VMware platform.

we are looking for an Architect DMZ, Network, VMware (m/f/d).
An external IT Infrastructure & Security Architect at senior level is sought for a client in the defense sector. The focus is on the design and documentation of highly available and secure enterprise infrastructures for connection to an existing VMware platform.
Responsibilities
- Design & Documentation: Creation of High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) for complex, highly available infrastructures.
- Architecture Concepts: Conception of DMZ environments, network segmentation, security zones, and resilience models.
- Technical Advisory & Governance: Technical consultation with stakeholders at eye level, leading workshops, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Operations Integration: Close cooperation with the operations team to ensure stable and secure system integration.
Requirements
- Experience: >10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in senior infrastructure architecture for large enterprises.
- Documentation: Demonstrable experience in creating customer-ready HLDs/LLDs in German.
- Tech Focus: Deep knowledge in High Availability (HA) architectures, network segmentation, and DMZ/perimeter security.
Nice to have
- Kubernetes: Experience with modern container platforms and cloud/data center technologies.
- SAP Infrastructure: Know-how in SAP operations (the target environment uses SAP on FCI).
- Environment: Prior experience in highly regulated areas (public sector, KRITIS, defense).
- Security Clearance: An existing security clearance is an advantage, but not a disqualifying criterion.
