Job description

Project overview

AWS DevOps Engineer - £800pd Inside IR35 - London - Energy Trading

I'm currently recruiting for a hands-on AWS Platform/DevOps Engineer for an Energy Trading client, working on the modernisation of a business-critical workflow and compute platform used by engineering teams and trading-facing users.

The main focus is simplifying and improving the underlying AWS estate, infrastructure automation, CI/CD and operational model, with a migration towards a more managed workflow platform.

They're looking for someone with:

Experience working in an energy trading/financial markets environment would be highly beneficial for the situational awareness it brings, as would previous exposure to grid compute or other large-scale distributed workload environments.

This is an Inside IR35 contract paying around £800pd, negotiable depending on experience. It is an initial 9-month engagement and is fully office-based in London, 5 days per week.

If you think you'd be a good fit, apply with your latest CV for immediate consideration. Alternatively, feel free to forward this to anyone you know who could be interested.

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience, particularly ECS, EC2, Fargate and S3, with a good understanding of IAM, permissions and access models
  • Strong Terraform experience building and managing reusable infrastructure as code
  • Experience supporting containerised workloads, including deployment automation, registries, worker architectures and production troubleshooting
  • Strong CI/CD experience across infrastructure and application deployments, ideally supporting Python-based environments
  • Experience operating or modernising shared enterprise platforms where reliability, monitoring and operational ownership are important
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration platforms such as Prefect, Airflow or similar would be useful; direct Prefect/Prefect Cloud experience would be a major advantage
  • Monitoring/observability experience using tools such as Datadog or OpenTelemetry
