Assignment Description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer for an assignment focusing on large-scale backend services, data pipelines, and storage in a complex cloud-based platform.

In the role, you will work with systems that handle large amounts of data and are responsible for developing and evolving backend services, APIs, and data solutions with high demands on scalability, reliability, and traceability. The work also includes data modeling, lifecycle management, efficient storage, and reuse of already processed data.

You will work with both backend services and data pipelines and contribute to technical solutions for secure storage, access control, and regulatory compliance. The role also involves collaboration across multiple teams and communicating technical choices to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You are comfortable quickly familiarizing yourself with new codebases and technical areas and can contribute even when the full context is not yet known. You collaborate well across team boundaries, communicate technical decisions clearly, and can independently identify which efforts yield the greatest impact.

The consultant can work 100% remotely within Sweden.

• You have solid experience in developing and operating backend services and APIs in large-scale production environments.
• You have very good knowledge of Java and/or Scala.
• You have experience with API design, schema development, and backward compatibility.
• You have experience with data modeling focusing on traceability, version management, and efficient searches.
• You have experience with data pipelines and an understanding of both batch and real-time processing.
• You have experience with Apache Beam, Cloud Dataflow, or equivalent technologies.
• You have experience with cloud-based data services, such as object storage, NoSQL, message queues, and data warehouses.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• You have a good understanding of security, including encryption, key management, and access control.
• You have experience with, or a good understanding of, compliance-sensitive environments and requirements regarding, for example, data storage, deletion, and audit trails.
• You have experience with media, content, or other data-heavy platforms.
• You have experience optimizing storage solutions for very large datasets.
