Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager for the supervision and coordination of the renewal of a full desalination plant at a coal-fired power plant. The role involves overseeing dismantling, new construction, and integration of the plant, acting as the main point of contact on-site.

Project overview

Site supervision and construction coordination during the renewal of the full desalination plant at a coal-fired power plant.

Accompanying the complete dismantling of the old VE plant, including piping and plant components, as well as preparing the construction site for the installation of the new plant.

Coordination and supervision of the trades: dismantling, plant construction, piping construction, steel construction, concrete construction, WHG coating, electrical, fire protection, and HVAC.

Control of the new construction of bases and foundations, as well as the application of WHG coating on the installation areas.

Site supervision during the erection of a new river water treatment and desalination plant with ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and further water treatment stages.

Coordination of the integration of the new plant into the existing infrastructure, especially chemical storage, wastewater neutralization, and existing plant technology.

Main point of contact on-site for the end customer's project management, the assembly managers, and the involved trades and subcontractors.

Support in coordinating between general planning, process engineering, assembly, electrical integration, and commissioning.

Schedule, quality, and safety monitoring during dismantling, construction, assembly, and commissioning.

Review and evaluation of planning and execution documents, especially P&IDs, isometrics, technical specifications, and assembly documents.

Organization and control of construction site logistics, including deliveries, storage, unloading, and coordination of assembly areas.

Monitoring of work safety on the construction site in cooperation with the responsible HSE and safety officers.

Accompanying the commissioning, trial operation, as well as the handover and acceptance of the new plant.

Requirements

Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience as a Construction Manager, Site Supervisor, Project Controller, or Site Construction Manager in plant, power plant, piping, or water treatment plant construction.

Experience in the process engineering of water treatment or desalination plants, ideally with ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, or comparable water purification processes.

Experience with plastic piping and plastic tanks, as a large part of the new plant consists of plastic components.

Extensive experience in reading and evaluating P&IDs, isometrics, technical specifications, and execution documents.

Many years of experience in coordinating multiple trades (mentioned above).

Many years of experience as responsible for work safety / SIGEKO (ideally with RAB 30 training).

Experience in organizing construction site logistics, especially delivery, storage, coordination of unloading, and provision of assembly areas.

Strong resilience to stress and the ability to maintain an overview even with a high number of personnel, tight schedules, and parallel trades.

Hands-on mentality: Not just a coordinator, but someone who pragmatically solves operational problems on the construction site and is not afraid to get involved when necessary.

Forklift license, or alternatively, a binding commitment to obtain one shortly before the project start.

Willingness for a high on-site presence and long working days during the dismantling and assembly phase.
