Component Owner/Product Developer

Project overview

As Component Owner/Product Developer, you will play a central role in the new development of a center console for an electric vehicle in the European market. You will combine technical understanding, product responsibility, and strong communication skills to develop a series-producible solution from a demanding product idea. You will work closely with internal departments, development service providers, design offices, and other project partners.

You will manage the technical implementation of your component through the various development phases, keeping an eye on function, quality, deadlines, costs, and manufacturability. In your interface role, you will ensure that requirements are clearly formulated, changes are assessed comprehensibly, and decisions are implemented purposefully. Your experience with center consoles in the automotive environment will help you to identify technical challenges early and develop pragmatic solutions.

At the same time, you will bring the willingness to actively contribute to an international project environment and to travel if necessary.

You will take on technical product responsibility for the newly developed center console.

You will coordinate development from the concept phase to series readiness.

You will work closely with the design office and use Catia V5 at the technical interface.

You will assess technical requirements, scope of changes, and their impact on the overall project.

You will coordinate with relevant departments, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

You will track deadlines, open points, quality requirements, and technical risks.

You will support in finding solutions and ensure robust documentation.

You will contribute your expertise to a future-oriented e-mobility project for the European market.

Requirements

For this position, we are looking for an experienced personality who not only understands technical product development but actively drives it forward. You have three to five years of professional experience in the automotive environment and have already taken responsibility for the development or support of a center console in a vehicle. It is particularly important that you are comfortable in complex development processes and can communicate technical content understandably to different contact persons.

As you will regularly work with a design office, you should have practical experience with Catia V5 and be able to assess technical contexts independently. Your very good communication skills will help you to clarify requirements, facilitate decisions, and maintain an overview even with differing interests. Good English skills and willingness to travel complete your profile. Ideally, you have already implemented a center console within the VW Group and are familiar with the relevant processes, quality requirements, and interfaces.

You have three to five years of professional experience in automotive product development or component responsibility.

You have already taken responsibility for the development or implementation of a center console in a vehicle.

You have practical experience with Catia V5, especially for collaboration with a design office.

You possess very good communication skills and present yourself confidently to internal and external partners.

You can confidently analyze, structure, and communicate technical requirements understandably.

You have good to very good English skills, both written and spoken.

You have the necessary willingness to travel for your project tasks and coordination.

You work independently, solution-oriented, reliably, and structured.

You have ideally already implemented a center console within the VW Group.
