The position

As a Business Controller within the municipality, you are a strong sparring partner for management and executive teams and play a key role in the financial and strategic steering of the organization. You advise on complex financial and business issues and make an active contribution to achieving policy objectives.

You are closely involved in the planning and control cycle and ensure clear, reliable, and future-oriented reports and analyses. You look beyond numbers alone: you translate financial insights into concrete advice that contributes to better decision-making and efficient use of public funds.

In your role, you work closely with policy departments and management teams. You understand the dynamics of a municipal organization and know how to connect financial frameworks with societal challenges. You identify risks and opportunities, steer towards results, and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and financial control.

Responsibilities

· Advising management and executive teams on financial and strategic issues;

· Managing and contributing to the planning and control cycle (P&C);

· Preparing, analyzing, and explaining budgets, forecasts, and management reports;

· Monitoring budgets and managing deviations;

· Identifying financial risks and opportunities and translating them into concrete improvement measures;

· Supporting year-end closing processes and audits;

· Contributing to process optimization and strengthening the financial function.

In your role, you work with various departments and stakeholders. You understand organizational structures, the dynamics of the organization, and have an eye for administrative and organizational relationships. You identify risks and opportunities and actively contribute to improving processes and financial control.

You take ownership of your work, are strong analytically, and can communicate complex information understandably and persuasively. Furthermore, you are continuously focused on development, both professionally and personally.

Due to current laws and regulations regarding equal pay, we ensure that your employment conditions align with the conditions within the public sector. This includes compensating elements such as the Individual Choice Budget (IKB) and pension schemes like ABP.

To achieve this, we work with various variable components. Depending on your situation and preferences, you can think of a combination of, for example, a lease car, gross project allowance, net reimbursements (such as internet), and facilities like a laptop and phone allowance, and of course pension accrual (Stipp).

What you can count on from us is a compliant and transparent offer that fully complies with current legislation and meets your personal wishes.

Basically, you can count on:

· A market-conform salary within scale 11–12 of the municipal collective labor agreement;

· A net home working allowance of €2.45 per day;

· Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer, or the choice of a lease car or full public transport allowance;

· 25 vacation days per year (based on 40 hours per week);

· 8.33% holiday allowance;

• A completed HBO or WO degree in a financial field (e.g., Finance & Control, Business Economics, or Accountancy);
• Relevant work experience as a Business Controller;
• Experience with financial steering, budgets, and management reports;
• Knowledge of or experience with the planning and control cycle (P&C);
• Experience within the public sector and/or with government finance is a plus;
• A proactive attitude and well-developed organizational sensitivity;
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial information into concrete management information and advice.
