Job description

Seeking an experienced calculation engineer with a focus on strength calculations and FEM for a long-term assignment with an international energy technology company. The role involves product-focused mechanical integrity and technical verification.

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced calculation engineer with a focus on strength calculations and FEM for a long-term assignment with an international player in energy technology. You will work close to the product with mechanical integrity and technical verification in an environment where calculations have a direct impact on safe and reliable solutions. The assignment is suitable for those who combine analytical sharpness with the ability to translate results into clear recommendations for designers and other technical specialists.

About the assignment:

As a calculation engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and verifying mechanical designs using strength calculations and FEM. The work is carried out in close collaboration with designers and other technical functions within development, delivery, and service.

You will join an international and technology-intensive operation with complex products, high quality requirements, and a strong emphasis on mechanical integrity. The role covers the entire chain from analysis of load cases and selection of calculation methods to assessment, documentation, and communication of results.

You will, among other things:

Perform strength calculations and FEM analyses of mechanical components and structures.

Define relevant load cases, boundary conditions, and calculation prerequisites.

Evaluate stresses, deformations, stability, and other relevant strength criteria.

Verify technical solutions against applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Support designers with calculation data and concrete recommendations during the development work.

Document assumptions, methods, and results in technical reports.

Present conclusions clearly to both calculation specialists and adjacent technical functions.

Contribute to the development of calculation methods, quality assurance, and common working practices.

We are looking for you who:

Have a solid foundation in technical mechanics and several years of practical experience in industrial strength calculations. You work independently in analysis tools but see collaboration with design and other specialist areas as a natural part of good calculation work.

You are methodical and thorough without losing the overall perspective. You can assess the reasonableness of a calculation result, identify critical areas, and explain what the analysis means for the technical solution. As the work is done close to the operations, you need to be able to communicate fluently in Swedish.

Requirements

MSc or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent relevant education.

At least four years of experience in strength calculations and FEM in an industrial environment.

Practical experience with established FEM or simulation tools, such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Altair.

Good understanding of mechanical integrity, load cases, and verification of mechanical structures.

Ability to independently evaluate, document, and report calculation results.

Very good Swedish, spoken and written.

Good English, spoken and written.

Meritorious:

Experience from energy technology, heavy industry, or other operations with complex mechanical systems.

Experience with calculations for special tools, lifting equipment, or transport solutions.

Knowledge of relevant standards and codes for mechanical design and verification.

Experience with fatigue analysis, stability analysis, or non-linear FEM.

Accustomed to working closely with designers through several phases of product or tool development.

Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

Why this assignment is interesting:

Here you get to use your calculation expertise in a context where the analyses are not isolated reports, but an active part of technical decisions and finished solutions. You work closely with design in an international energy environment with technically demanding products, clear safety requirements, and good opportunities to deepen your specialist competence. The long-term setup also provides space to get to know the products, influence working methods, and become an important part of the technical organization.
