Category Strategy and Procurement Optimization for Infrastructure Development

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced strategy consultant to develop and optimize a comprehensive category strategy in the infrastructure and energy sector. The project addresses the strategic realignment of procurement for a large-volume expansion and transformation program.

Responsibilities

You will analyze existing procurement approaches and develop recommendations for cost optimization, capacity assurance, and harmonization of contracting and supplier structures. You will evaluate suitable procurement models such as framework agreements, project business, turn-key and EPC approaches, as well as hybrid models. A focus will be on developing a smart lot logic with optimal work breakdown and bundling strategies.

You will evaluate options for bundling and regionalization based on purchasing power and market structure. You will also develop recommendations for supplier segmentation, definition of supplier roles, and long-term capacity assurance. You will examine capacity reservation models, supplier development approaches, and options for internal capacity building.

Requirements

You bring many years of expertise in strategic category management and procurement transformation in complex organizations. Proven industry knowledge in the energy and infrastructure sector is essential, especially experience with large-volume expansion and transformation programs. You have deep expertise in contracting and sourcing models, supplier consolidation, and capacity management. Skills in benchmarking and best-practice transfer complete your profile.
