Citrix Consultant / Engineer for VDI Implementation and Optimization

Project overview

Project Goal: The objective is to complete, configure, and commission an already partially built Citrix environment. A functional Citrix VDI solution should be provided that enables internal and external access to Windows 11 single-session desktops.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and evaluation of the already implemented Citrix components and configurations
• Optimization and completion of the existing Citrix infrastructure
• Complete configuration of the NetScaler Gateway for internal and external access via a unified FQDN
• Analysis and resolution of existing issues with Single Sign-On (SSO)
• Setup and configuration of the Citrix Workspace App, including desktop shortcut and full-screen mode
• Setup of targeted USB, audio, and video device redirection, excluding USB mass storage devices
• Configuration of FSLogix Profile Containers on an existing NetApp SMB share
• Implementation of FSLogix App Masking based on Active Directory groups
• Implementation of a solution for using applications from further dedicated VMs (e.g., CAD applications and Adobe Creative Cloud)
• Creation of a simple Windows 11 master image
• Execution and support of internal and external functional tests
• Creation or completion of technical documentation
• Optional: Implementation of Citrix App Layering for later optimization of master image management

Requirements

• Profound practical experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) and Citrix Workspace App
• Very good knowledge of NetScaler ADC / Citrix Gateway, especially gateway configuration, authentication, and SSO
• Experience with Windows 11 VDI environments and master image creation
• Practical knowledge of FSLogix Profile Containers and App Masking
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, and Windows authentication
• Knowledge of network architectures, VPN connections, DNS, and certificate management
• Experience with USB and multimedia redirection in Citrix environments
• Ideally, experience with Citrix App Layering and the deployment of resource-intensive applications via Citrix

Project details

Project start, time commitment, and deployment model will be agreed upon jointly.

Expected Outcome: A functional, tested, and documented Citrix environment that meets the described requirements. We are explicitly looking for a practice-oriented Citrix expert who will independently implement the necessary configurations directly in the existing environment and will not be exclusively advisory.
