About the Company
The municipality of Eijsden‑Margraten is a rural and expansive municipality in the Heuvelland region, consisting of fifteen core settlements and directly bordering the urban area of Maastricht. To the south, the municipality is bordered by the Belgian municipalities of Visé and Voeren. The "Five-Star Landscape" of Eijsden‑Margraten is remarkable for its great diversity of landscapes, including the Plateau, the Middenterras, and the Maasdal. It is also unique that the Maas enters the Netherlands near Eijsden and that the only American military cemetery in the Netherlands is located in Margraten.
The municipality has approximately 26,000 inhabitants and a rich club life, contributing to an attractive socio-cultural climate. Eijsden‑Margraten offers not only its residents but also new residents and visitors a warm home: authentic, hospitable, small-scale, and with genuine attention to each other. Based on the Cittaslow philosophy, the municipality works with residents, entrepreneurs, and associations on an attractive living environment where, with respect for landscape, nature, traditions, and culture, there is room for current and future generations.
Within the organization, approximately 190 professionals work daily with great energy on the development of Eijsden‑Margraten as an attractive place to live, work, and stay. This is done based on four guiding principles: decisiveness, resilience and agility, vitality, and results orientation. The municipality is highly aware of its societal role as a government, with responsibility for public resources and democratic decision-making. This responsibility is a major driving force in daily actions.
The organization is characterized by a collegial working atmosphere with ample room for personal responsibility and creativity. A good interplay between the executive and administrative organization is central, with respect for everyone's role and position. The lives of the inhabitants are always the starting point. Eijsden‑Margraten cherishes its traditions, protects the landscape, actively responds to societal transitions, and provides space for innovation. The municipality believes in doing things together and creating meaning together. It's no coincidence that its motto is: 'close to life, from the heart'.
