Job description
As a Cloud Security Specialist in the SOC's Second Line, you will be responsible for AWS security monitoring, advising on security measures, and improving incident response within Alliander's energy network.
Project overview
As a Cloud Security Specialist, you are part of the Second Line of Alliander's SOC. You have experience with AWS security and are eager to gain even more control over it. Security is in your veins, and we offer the place where that can be expressed. This position is open in Haarlem or Arnhem for 32, 36, or 40 hours. You make the energy grid secure at Alliander. The energy transition is impossible without you as an AWS Security Specialist in the SOC (Arnhem OR Haarlem).
As part of the Blue Team of Alliander's Cyber Resilience Center (CRC), you ensure that security monitoring on the Alliander Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment is and remains in excellent order. You also provide advice, both requested and unsolicited, on measures that need to be taken. You also help the rest of the CRC team to respond even faster to security incidents. We are making the energy grid of the future for everyone, with everyone. And as an AWS Security Specialist, you contribute to this. For example, you are involved in:
- optimizing security monitoring in relation to AWS;
- building and maintaining security monitoring use cases based on current threats and incidents;
- advising the AWS team and the more than 200 development teams on the measures to be taken to work more securely;
- transferring knowledge to the first line so that they can handle most alerts independently, allowing you to focus only on the challenging issues;
- maintaining contact with the Product Owner of the AWS team, enabling you to act quickly and independently. You work hybrid, which means you are in the office in Haarlem or Arnhem 2 days a week. This depends on where you live. The other days you can work from home, the office, or another location in the Netherlands. You make the energy grid more complete at Alliander. Did you know that Alliander consists of various companies? With a large group of professionals, we develop and manage the energy grid for millions of residents and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. We do this together and with attention to our customers. And thanks to our talents, we have full confidence in the energy future of the Netherlands. Together with you, we make the energy transition possible. And you will do that at the Cyber Resilience Center team, part of the CISO Office business unit under the Alliander flag. The CISO Office is the unit responsible for Alliander's security. As an autonomous body, we deal with all units and companies of Alliander. Within the CISO Office, you work with 44 passionate experts: security architects, security specialists, and security managers. As a team, you are responsible for the complete information security process of Alliander. The focus is on developing security building blocks, policies, and frameworks that form the foundation of a secure digital environment. The culture within the team is strongly focused on collaboration, connection, and technical depth. We value everyone's expertise and encourage knowledge sharing, so that we collectively arrive at the best and most well-thought-out security solutions. The drive to discover what is possible can only happen if you have enough energy. And the right work environment gives you that. The Cyber Resilience Center consists of smart and involved colleagues and has a First Line (first line of defense, for handling 95% of alerts), a Second Line (where the specialists are found), a Third Line (for senior specialists), and various virtual teams in which specific specializations such as Vulnerability Management, Threat Management, and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure are carried out together. You make the grid more energetic. You do that from your own strength and talent. And you do that with us. Do you contribute to that with your critical view of things? And do you supplement this with:
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS Security matters such as Amazon Guardduty and Cloudtrail.
- Knowledge of AWS in an enterprise environment
- Experience with security incident analysis and response of cloud environments.
- Current knowledge of the setup of AWS and associated architecture. * In your submitted cover letter, we would like to hear about the hands-on experience you bring in AWS Security operations and your experience with incident response based on alerts in CloudTrail and GuardDuty. Please note that for this role we are searching for someone who is proficient in the use of the Dutch language (B2 level) and is already living in the Netherlands.
