We are looking for a COBOL/Host Developer to develop and integrate a legacy adapter component within an existing host landscape for an insurance client. The role involves designing, developing, and adapting interfaces between existing COBOL applications and a new output management system.

Project overview

For our client in the insurance industry, we are looking for a COBOL / Host Developer ASAP to provide the following services in the project:

Responsibilities

Development and integration of a legacy adapter component within the existing host landscape
Conception, development, and adaptation of interfaces between existing COBOL applications and the new output management system
Connection of existing systems to Papyros, taking into account the existing system architecture
Technical implementation of the transfer of processing orders via Kafka or comparable technologies
Analysis of existing applications, data flows, and interfaces
Consideration of different data formats, especially XML and JSON, during system integration
Support in the modernization and replacement of existing output management components
Analysis and support of existing batch processing processes
Technical consulting and support for internal development teams to relieve existing resources
Close coordination with internal and external project participants

Requirements

Sound experience in COBOL development
Very good knowledge of classic host or mainframe environments
Sound experience in the development and integration of interfaces on host systems
Experience in the analysis and further development of existing legacy applications
Ability to collaborate with various technical teams and stakeholders
Demonstrable experience with output management systems, especially Papyros
Very good knowledge of Dopex/DocPath, POSY, or ASF
Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging technologies
Knowledge in the processing and integration of XML and JSON data
Experience with batch processing on host systems
Industry knowledge in the banking and insurance sector
Experience in application analysis and modernization of legacy systems
Experience with hybrid or cloud-based operating environments
