Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

Profile

• Performing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up processes for mechanical and process engineering plants in accordance with approved procedures and checklists
• Conducting plant inspections, functional tests, and error analyses on mechanical systems such as HVAC, dust extraction, and exhaust air systems, on process plants such as water treatment, natural gas, or liquid nitrogen systems, and on utility systems
• Such as compressed air, water, and wastewater systems
• Technical leadership and guidance of technicians during commissioning, ensuring safe working practices and timely, correct execution of tasks
• Managing external suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring execution quality, ensuring compliance with Tesla standards, and verifying the completeness and correctness of documentation before plant acceptance
• Creating and maintaining commissioning documentation, including checklists, test procedures, punch lists, and handover documentation
• Daily coordination with Engineering, Construction, Technical Services, Manufacturing, and contractors to align commissioning activities with project schedules
• Support in the development of commissioning packages and scopes of work, as well as technical support for procurement as needed
• Identification and resolution of technical problems on-site, as well as escalation of complex issues to the Commissioning Lead
• Ensuring compliance with German regulations, technical standards, and official requirements
• Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable technical field, or equivalent practical qualification
• Relevant experience in the commissioning of complex industrial or production plants
• Extensive practical experience in the commissioning of mechanical plants, process plants, and technical utility systems in industrial or production environments
• Experience in leading technicians or site teams during commissioning or construction projects
• Experience in managing and supervising suppliers, service providers, and subcontractors in construction or commissioning projects
• Good knowledge of German technical standards, regulations, and documentation requirements
• Very good English skills, spoken and written; German language skills are a significant advantage
• Confident use of Microsoft Office and Autodesk applications
• Willingness to spend a significant portion of working time directly on the construction site or in the plants and to get hands-on when necessary
• Ability to work successfully in a performance-oriented, cross-functional environment with tight schedules and ambitious goals
