Job description

As a Data Scientist, you will conduct analyses for regulatory colleagues, translating insights into supervisory practices. You will work on projects related to healthcare provider billing behavior, market risks, and developing/maintaining tools to support risk-based supervision.

Project overview

Assignment Description

You will perform analyses at the request of fellow supervisors and translate the insights into supervisory practice. You will be involved in analyzing billing behavior, exploring potential market-wide risks, and developing and maintaining tools. Your analyses will support the NZa's risk-based supervision. For example, you will work on investigations into the professional business operations of healthcare providers and the accessibility of care.

Background of the assignment

The Data-Driven Supervision team uses its data expertise to help fellow supervisors within the Supervision directorate answer policy questions and become data-literate, and contributes to products that provide insight into the affordability and accessibility of care.

You will be a fully integrated member of the Data-Driven Supervision team.

Organizational context and culture

You are part of the Supervision directorate. We supervise healthcare providers, health insurers, and healthcare offices. For example, we examine whether healthcare providers bill correctly, are transparent about price and quality, and manage their financial operations properly. Within the directorate, we also conduct investigations into possible violations and improper use of healthcare funds. Various expertises collaborate on this, including supervisors, lawyers, and research specialists. We continuously develop our research methods, increasingly utilizing digital information and specialized research techniques.

This is how we work towards effective, careful, and future-proof supervision.
