Data Steward - Banking

We are looking for a Data Steward to support data governance and resolve complex data quality issues in a banking environment. Depending on your experience, you will focus on BCBS 239-related governance and metadata work or on investigating and resolving challenging data quality problems.

Key responsibilities

What we’re looking for

Previous data governance experience is not essential if you bring strong expertise in investigating and resolving complex data quality issues.

Strong advantages

  • Investigate data issues using SQL, perform root cause analysis, and validate data transformations and mappings across multiple databases.
  • Manage business and technical metadata, including data definitions, lineage, ownership, catalogs, and business glossaries.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Define and monitor data quality controls and metrics, supporting sustainable improvements.
  • Assess the business impact of data quality issues and prioritize remediation, balancing regulatory, operational, and business requirements.
  • Communicate data issues, risks, and remediation plans clearly to business and technical audiences.
  • Strong SQL skills, including querying, validating, profiling, and analyzing data.
  • Hands-on experience resolving complex data quality issues, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of data quality dimensions: accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity, and uniqueness.
  • Ability to work effectively with business and technical stakeholders and translate findings into actionable remediation plans.
  • For the governance-focused scope: experience with metadata management, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data ownership, stewardship, and governance frameworks.
  • Banking experience, particularly at Luminor or Nordea, bringing familiarity with internal processes, expectations, architectures, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with BCBS 239-related data governance and metadata work.
  • Familiarity with SelectZero or Solidatus. Onboarding to these tools will be provided.
  • Start: flexible
  • Remote: remote
  • Location: Gdynia, x, PL
