Job description
Join a major express parcel delivery company as an experienced DBA to manage and maintain a large database environment, primarily SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Project overview
Our client, a major player in express parcel delivery, is strengthening its Database team following a departure. The team has 7 people, including 3 senior DBAs (10 to 20 years of experience). The scope covers approximately 800 production databases, mostly SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the RUN (80%) of a fleet of approximately 800 SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases: incidents, service requests, changes
- Guarantee the MCO (Maintenance in Operational Condition) and MCS (Maintenance in a State of Readiness) of the databases, and manage production as a whole, beyond simple ticket processing
- Perform application updates via script on the databases
- Contribute to BUILD (20%): integrate new technologies and features (new PostgreSQL versions, for example) at the request of the Business Units
- Propose and implement automation for recurring tasks
- Support other Business Units on their RUN and BUILD topics
- Be available for out-of-hours work, approximately one week in four
- Develop expertise in L3 topics, with the support of the senior DBAs in the team
