DBA SQL Server & PostgreSQL - Experienced

Project overview

Our client, a major player in express parcel delivery, is strengthening its Database team following a departure. The team consists of 7 people, including 3 senior DBAs (10 to 20 years of experience). The scope covers approximately 800 production databases, predominantly SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

Profile sought

• Ensure the RUN (80%) of a pool of approximately 800 SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases: incidents, service requests, changes
• Guarantee the MCO and MCS of the databases, and manage production as a whole, beyond simple ticket processing
• Perform application updates via scripts on the databases
• Contribute to BUILD (20%): integrate new technologies and functionalities (new PostgreSQL versions, for example) at the request of Business Units
• Propose and implement automation for recurring tasks
• Support other Business Units on their RUN and BUILD topics
• Participate in out-of-hours work, approximately one week in four
• Develop expertise in N3 topics, with the support of the team's senior DBAs
• At least 5 years of experience as a full-time DBA. Experience where the database was only a secondary topic does not count.
• Solid expertise in SQL Server and PostgreSQL (essential)
• Good command of internal mechanisms: replication, physical architecture (organization and file types), engine operation
• Production experience: incident management, changes, and scripted deployments
• Ability to automate operational tasks
• Cassandra: a real plus
• N2 level expected, with the desire to evolve towards N3
• Proactive, autonomous, and able to communicate with business and application teams
