DevOps Engineer - Kubernetes

Project overview

For our client in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced, motivated, and open-minded DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Operation, monitoring, and continuous development of the Kubernetes platform and the managed services running on it (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka)
• Ensuring high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management
• Execution and automation of Day-2 operations such as upgrades, patches, backup/restore, and capacity management
• Analysis and resolution of disruptions, including root cause analyses (RCA) in production-like environments
• Setup, further development, and operation of observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, Logging/Tracing)
• Close collaboration with engineering teams to optimize operational processes, runbooks, and automations
• Participation in on-call duty and ensuring stable 24/7 operation

• Completed degree in Computer Science (University/FH/HF/EFZ) or comparable qualification with several years of experience in IT operations
• Very good knowledge of Kubernetes and the operation of container-based platforms and services
• Sound know-how in observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch) and structured error analysis
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Helm)
• Practice in CI/CD environments (GitLab, Git, Docker)
• Strong Linux and system engineering knowledge in production-like environments
• Experience operating at least one of the following technologies: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Kafka
• Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with existing infrastructures and to stabilize and optimize them sustainably
• High resilience and a structured, solution-oriented approach to work
• Team player with an independent work style and understanding of agile and lean working methods
• Very good English and German language skills
