• Operation, monitoring, and optimization of the productive application and infrastructure in AWS
• Independent analysis and resolution of errors, malfunctions, and incidents
• Processing of security findings as well as planning and execution of patches and updates
• Further development of infrastructure automation with Terraform or OpenTofu
• Configuration, optimization, and further development of Kubernetes clusters
• Deployment of containerized applications with Docker, Helm, and Flux (GitOps)
• Analysis and resolution of problems in deployment and release processes
• Setup and management of AWS IAM roles and permissions
• Connection and configuration of PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS
• Management of secrets and encryption with AWS Secrets Manager and AWS KMS
• Further development of monitoring and logging with Grafana and OpenSearch
• Configuration and optimization of Kafka infrastructure (Amazon MSK Serverless)
• Optimization of node scaling in Kubernetes with Karpenter
• Further development of automated dependency updates with Renovate
• Development and optimization of AWS Lambda functions in Python
• Consolidation and further development of the existing infrastructure
• Creation and maintenance of operational documentation (runbooks, operational processes, instructions)
• Standardization and automation of recurring operational processes
• Preparation of the application and operational processes for increased availability and stability requirements
• Configuration and administration of AWS cloud infrastructures for productive applications
• Kubernetes: Deployment and operation of containerized applications
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or OpenTofu
• Operational management of productive cloud applications including monitoring, fault analysis, and incident management
• Operation of productive IT applications for operational processes in railway transport, including consideration of business dependencies during disruptions and changes
• You must be located in Germany and pay taxes
• Monitoring, logging, and error analysis, especially with Grafana and OpenSearch
• GitOps as well as deployment and release processes with Helm and Flux
• AWS security features: IAM, Secrets Manager, KMS
• Automation of operational and maintenance tasks with Python, AWS Lambda, or Renovate
• PostgreSQL on AWS RDS and analysis of database connections
• Operation of Kafka infrastructure, especially Amazon MSK

Project details

Project Context

Operation and further development of a central platform for planning and controlling processes in several maintenance depots of a large railway company. The application runs as a microservice architecture in the AWS Cloud. A DevOps team is currently being built to ensure long-term operation. From mid-2027, the application is expected to meet increased availability requirements (SLA Gold). Work is done agilely in Kanban mode, based on SAFe.
