Drupal Application Developer

Project overview

We are looking for a Drupal Application Developer for the further development and maintenance of urban web applications, especially for social infrastructure, volunteer work, and digital administrative services.

Responsibilities

• Further development and maintenance of several Drupal applications
• Implementation of new functions as well as technical interfaces to specialized applications and external platforms
• Integration into the urban data, geo, and system infrastructure
• Optimization of data models, migrations, and data consistency
• Independent agile implementation in coordination with Service Owners and application development

• Project experience with PHP and Drupal 10/11; knowledge of TYPO3, Symfony, or Silex
• Knowledge of Java, Python, Perl, and Smalltalk for development, maintenance, and integration
• Confident use of PhpStorm, PHP debugging, Composer, Drush, and Git
• Installation and administration of MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
• Development of REST/SOAP web services with API tests
• Frontend development with JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and LESS/SASS
• Knowledge of UX, Responsive Design, and Accessibility
• Configuration and operation of web servers, especially Apache and PHP under Linux/RHEL, as well as Bash and PowerShell scripting for automated deployments
• Integration of PHP microservices with RabbitMQ as well as modeling of exchanges, queues, and policies
• Development of container applications with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Knowledge of using AI-supported tools and services
• Knowledge of urban administrative processes as well as project experience in Open Government, Open Data, E-Participation, and social infrastructure
• Very good German language skills, both written and spoken. Independent way of working
• Start: expected from 01.11.2026
• Duration: until 31.12.2027
• Scope: maximum 120 person-days
• Assignment: 100% remote
