Enforcement Lawyer

Project overview

As an enforcement lawyer, you will independently handle complex legal cases within supervision and enforcement at the municipality.

Profile of the suited interim professional:

• Assess violations, interests, and evidence and determine the legally appropriate next step
• Draft legally sound decisions, such as penalty payments or administrative coercion orders, collection notices, and closures based on the Opium Act or Municipalities Act
• Represent the municipality in objection and appeal proceedings and in court
• Coordinate with police, supervisors, and other enforcement partners for an integrated approach
• Identify developments in laws and regulations and translate these into enforcement practice
• Act as a point of contact for colleagues on complex legal issues
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in legal enforcement, preferably gained at a municipality or other government agency
• Knowledge of administrative law and enforcement, with experience in, among others, the APV, Opium Act, Environmental Liveability Ordinance, waste ordinance, and Environmental and Planning Act
• Skill in drafting enforcement decisions and handling objection and appeal proceedings
• Work experience within a municipal or comparable administrative context
• Ability to function independently quickly within a new organization
