Project overview

As an Engineering Manager | Design & Integration, you will take on a central technical consulting and coordination role in complex development, design, and integration projects for public clients. You will support multidisciplinary engineering teams in efficiently connecting technical goals, requirements, interfaces, and quality specifications. You will work closely with project managers, international specialist departments, and other relevant stakeholders.

Your area of responsibility includes both operational support for ongoing projects and the continuous further development of engineering standards, methods, and processes. You will make an important contribution to the application of modern systems engineering and model-based development approaches and help to identify technical risks early and establish sustainable solutions. The position is aimed at an experienced individual who combines technical depth with organizational overview, strong communication skills, and a high degree of quality awareness.

Requirements

For this demanding position, we are looking for a technically proficient and confident personality with several years of experience in the defense industry. You have a strong understanding of the interrelationships between Systems Engineering, technical project management, product development, integration, and quality management. Your experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams in international project environments and your ability to structure and integrate different technical perspectives are particularly important.

You should be able to communicate complex requirements understandably, support decision-making processes, and drive the implementation of uniform engineering standards. In addition to sound methodological knowledge, we expect you to be proficient in using relevant engineering, project, and process management systems. Your working method is analytical, solution-oriented, and quality-conscious. Due to the international environment, you communicate confidently in Dutch and English; German language skills and experience in cross-site projects are an advantage.

You have several years of professional experience in the defense industry.

You have several years of experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams in international projects.

You communicate very well in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

You have experience with engineering, project, and process management systems, such as PLM/PDM, ERP, and requirements management systems like Teamcenter or DOORS.

You possess in-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering, particularly the V-model, MBSE, Requirements Engineering, Verification & Validation, and SEMP.

You are familiar with relevant tools such as Cameo or Enterprise Architect.

You have in-depth knowledge of technical project and engineering management, for example according to PMI or PRINCE2, as well as in resource and risk management, Lean Management, and continuous improvement.

You have experience working with technical product and contract specifications.

You are familiar with relevant quality management and engineering standards, especially ISO 9001 and AQAP 2110.

You ideally have German language skills.

Project details

You will advise on the organizational and technical coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams as well as on coordination with project managers and international specialist departments.

You will support the planning, prioritization, and resource and capacity management of development, design, and integration activities.

You will analyze, harmonize, and further develop engineering standards, methods, and processes, particularly in the areas of Systems Engineering, SEMP, Requirements Management, Design Reviews, Configuration Management, and Verification & Validation.

You will advise on technical requirements, product configurations, interfaces, system integration, and engineering change management.

You will provide support with technical issues and with the application and further development of model-based development approaches.

You will analyze and optimize engineering and quality management processes, including technical documentation, design guidelines, and development procedures.

You will advise on quality deviations, identify potential for improvement, and support technical reviews and lessons-learned activities.

You will support the further development of team structures, roles, and responsibilities and participate in identifying qualification and development needs.
