Job description
Freelance mission based in Dijon, hybrid mode, focused on leveraging external data and AI for procurement market intelligence. The role involves defining needs, integrating data sources, and deploying automated market monitoring tools.
Project overview
Freelance mission on a fixed-price basis, based in Dijon, in hybrid mode.
Context
Our client is a French industrial group in the healthcare sector, medium-sized and with a strong international dimension. It designs, manufactures, and markets its products in France and abroad, through subsidiaries and distributors. Engaged in a phase of sustained growth, it is investing in the development of its production capacities.
The mission is part of the supply chain and procurement department. Procurement represents a significant portion of the cost of goods sold, and several raw material families are exposed to price volatility. As selling prices are largely regulated by health authorities, any increase in procurement costs directly impacts margins. The use of dual sourcing remains rare for regulatory reasons, which limits negotiation leverage.
The management therefore wishes to exploit external data from the information system: raw material prices and indices, market trends, competition, supplier financial health. Some market sources are already acquired but remain underutilized, and the procurement team lacks the necessary expertise to design the corresponding tools.
We are looking for a data and AI expert specializing in procurement to support management, from scoping to the implementation of market intelligence for the procurement function.
Objectives
Scope
The mission primarily concerns production procurement.
- Provide procurement with an objective and up-to-date view of the market evolution for their main raw materials and components
- Objectify supplier price increase requests using market indices and prices
- Anticipate price trends and risks of tension or disruption
- Identify procurement families for which qualifying a second source is most justified
- Implement automated monitoring tools (monitoring agents, alerts, dashboards) used daily by the teams
- Scoping: diagnosis of the existing situation, identification of priority procurement families and relevant data sources, drafting of specifications
- Construction and deployment: integration of external sources, indicators and alerts, monitoring agents and dashboards, in conjunction with the group's data team
- Support for buyers in adopting the tools
Responsibilities
Deliverables
- Conduct interviews with buyers and formalize needs
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend external data sources
- Draft the functional specifications for monitoring and steering tools
- Oversee the construction of tools with the group's data team
- Train users and ensure that indicators lead to action plans
- Report regularly to management
- Diagnosis and mapping of priority procurement families
- Argumentative mapping of external data sources
- Functional specifications for monitoring and steering tools
- Monitoring agents and procurement dashboards combining internal data and market signals
- Documentation and training materials
- Roadmap for extending the system to other procurement families
