Project overview

Project: Senior Project Engineer Cables (Offshore Cable Team, Princess Elisabeth Island)

Responsibilities

• Follow up and review the engineering and implementation of offshore cable systems, including comment sheets on documentation
• Work independently on the review of documentation and report status and progress proactively
• Engage with contractors and internal experts and ensure follow-up of external parties
• Follow up the execution of the offshore works together with offshore client representatives
• Keep stakeholders informed in a multi-disciplinary team and report to the Lead T&I

Requirements

Non-EU candidates must hold a work permit and a valid residence permit for Belgium.

• At least 8 years of experience in the offshore cable industry
• Experience in offshore cable lay and burial, landfall and beach pull-ins, cable pull-in on structures, and preparatory works (PLGR, boulder clearance, OOS removal, pre-sweeping, dredging)
• Experience in offshore construction (vessel and ROV operations), cable installation and pull-in analysis, and weather limits
• Good understanding of survey techniques, GIS software and route engineering
• Master in Engineering, team player, quick learner, international project environment
• Fluent English; Dutch and French are a plus

Brussels, Belgium (Elia main office), Hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week onsite, 40% remote

09.11.2026, duration until 31.12.2027 (approx. 14 months), full-time 40h/week, Monday to Friday

Elia plans to extend its offshore high voltage grid by constructing the Princess Elisabeth Island (PEI). The Senior Project Engineer Cables joins the cable team in the execution preparation phase and focuses on the HVAC export cable installation under an EPCI contract.
