The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of business and technology change initiatives within a complex, regulated organisation.

This role is focused on portfolio ownership, prioritisation and delivery outcomes, not simply governance or reporting. You will work closely with senior leaders to shape the change roadmap, balance demand against available capacity, support investment decisions and ensure strategic initiatives deliver measurable business value.

The successful candidate will act as the bridge between strategy and execution, helping leaders determine what should be delivered, when it should be delivered and where investment should be focused.

You are someone who naturally operates at portfolio level rather than project level.

You are comfortable challenging priorities, facilitating investment discussions and helping senior stakeholders make informed decisions on where change investment should be directed.

You understand how to balance strategic goals, delivery capacity, risk and business value, and can translate complex portfolio information into clear recommendations.

• Own and maintain the portfolio roadmap across business and technology change initiatives
• Lead portfolio planning, prioritisation and sequencing activities
• Support investment decisions through business case review, challenge and portfolio analysis
• Ensure strategic initiatives remain aligned to organisational objectives and available capacity
• Manage portfolio dependencies, risks, delivery health and benefits realisation
• Provide meaningful portfolio insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Lead and develop a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts
• Drive consistency in delivery standards, governance and portfolio management practices
• Balance short-term delivery pressures with long-term strategic objectives
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on portfolio performance, priorities and investment choices
• Experience managing a portfolio of business and technology change initiatives
• Strong portfolio planning, prioritisation and demand management experience
• Experience balancing competing investment requests and delivery capacity
• Experience leading Project Managers, Business Analysts or wider change teams
• Strong understanding of portfolio governance, delivery methodologies and benefits management
• Experience with portfolio budgeting, financial planning and resource management
• Previous exposure to complex, regulated environments
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leadership teams
