Job description
Seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to build a modern BI platform on GCP using Looker and dbt, focusing on data architecture, semantic modeling, and dashboard development.
Project overview
Context:
Our client is taking a big leap: moving from PowerBI to build a modern, governed, and scalable BI platform on GCP, with Looker at the heart of the semantic layer and dbt to ensure data transformation reliability.
You will be involved from the start of the project (architecture, semantic model, best practices) and will deliver the first dashboards expected by the business units, before transitioning to a Self-Service BI model.
Missions:
1/ Design the data architecture and semantic model
2/ Develop, industrialize, deliver
Why join this mission?
Schedule: 3 days on-site presence, 2 days remote work
- Structure data in a medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) on BigQuery, using dbt to orchestrate transformations, tests, and documentation
- Build and deploy the LookML semantic model: explores, views, dimensions, measures, derived fields
- Enrich, clean, and ensure data reliability by leveraging dbt models (quality tests, data contracts, lineage) and Looker
- Document all datasets (dbt docs, LookML descriptions, catalog) so that business units understand and trust the data
- Develop in LookML and dbt according to team standards (modularity, reusability, performance)
- Version code with Git and deploy on GCP
- Implement CI/CD pipelines under GitLab: dbt tests, LookML validation (Content Validator, linting), automated deployments
- Create the first reports and dashboards expected by the business units, and support them in gaining autonomy
- Prepare the transition to Self-Service BI: governance, best practices, training, and skills transfer
- An end-to-end project: from architecture to dashboard, you see the impact of your work
- A modern stack: GCP, BigQuery, dbt, Looker, GitLab CI/CD
- A structuring role: your architectural choices and standards will become the client's reference
- A real transformation challenge: moving from reporting BI to a self-service data culture
