For a project environment in the energy industry, we are looking for an experienced Senior IT License Manager (m/f/d) on a freelance basis.

As part of an ongoing transformation project, you will support the client both in an advisory and operational capacity. The focus is on managing and optimizing IT license and contract management, ensuring license compliance, and transferring existing license inventories.

Profile

• Start: 01.12.2026
• Duration: approx. 7 months
• Utilization: approx. 20–30 hours per week
• Location: Predominantly remote (over 80%), occasional on-site appointments in Hamburg as needed
• Completed degree in (Business) Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
• At least 3 years of experience in IT license and contract management as well as IT procurement, ideally in the energy industry
• Sound knowledge in license management for server and IT infrastructures, databases, as well as SaaS and cloud solutions
• Experience with license processes, license metering, and optimization of license models, especially in the data center and database environment
• Very good knowledge of at least one standard software asset management tool (e.g., Flexera, USU, Raynet, Snow, or Matrix42)
• Experience in handling complex contract structures, contract risks, and deadlines
• Basic knowledge of IT law and data protection is an advantage
• Fluent German and very good English skills
• Structured, independent way of working and strong communication skills

• Advisory and operational support for the sub-project "Licenses" as part of an IT transformation project
• Recording, analysis, and coordination of IT license requirements with the business departments and project participants
• Coordination of license procurement and transfer of existing license inventories from an external IT service provider
• Ensuring license and contract compliance, taking into account internal and external specifications
• Management and maintenance of licenses, maintenance and operating contracts, as well as associated data and Jira tickets
• Coordination of the deployed license and contract management tools, as well as clarification of relevant interfaces and license metering procedures
• Analysis and optimization of existing license models, contract structures, and license management processes
• Identification of savings potential and development of concrete measures for cost optimization
• Technical support in contract negotiations with software manufacturers, cloud providers, and IT service providers
