Host Developer

Project overview

For our client, an insurance company, we are looking for a Host Developer.

Responsibilities

• Project Goals:
• Partner data migration and integration as part of a merger
• Development and adaptation of host-based applications for processing and synchronizing partner data
• Support for developers involved in the project
• Ensuring process security, data quality, and availability of partner data across various systems
• Analysis and resolution of technical problems during migration and integration
• Analysis of existing host applications, data structures, and interfaces in the partner environment
• Development and adaptation of COBOL programs for processing and migrating partner data
• Creation and optimization of SQL queries and DB2 database objects
• Analysis of technical requirements and coordination with business departments, architecture, and development teams
• Support in the conception and implementation of migration and integration solutions
• Error analysis and problem-solving in production-like and production environments
• Execution of unit, integration, and migration tests
• Creation of technical documentation and support of knowledge transfer within the project
• Support in performance analysis and optimization of batch and online processes

Requirements

• Several years of experience as a Host/Mainframe Developer with COBOL and DB2 in complex system landscapes (+++)
• Very good knowledge of SQL, DB2 databases, and data modeling (+++)
• Experience in analysis, adaptation, and further development of existing legacy applications (+++)
• Experience in data migrations and system integrations (++)
• Knowledge of batch and online procedures in the mainframe environment (++)
• Experience in collaborating with business departments, business analysts, and development teams (++)
• Structured, independent way of working and strong analytical skills (++)
• Knowledge of PL/I is an advantage (+)
• Experience in the insurance industry, especially in the partner or policy management context (+)
• Fluent German, English is an advantage (+)
