This is a hands-on strategic leadership role for someone with deep Workday functional expertise who can shape the roadmap, challenge solution designs, manage implementation partners and lead initiatives from planning through to successful delivery and business adoption.

The ideal candidate will combine strong Workday HCM knowledge with programme leadership, stakeholder management and a clear understanding of end-to-end HR processes and operating models.

Desirable Background

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked as Workday Solution or Functional Leads, HRIS or HR Technology Leads, Workday Solution Architects, or senior Workday implementation consultants who have subsequently moved into client-side roadmap leadership.

Experience leading post-implementation optimisation or Workday enhancement programmes will be especially valuable.

  • Own and deliver a multi-year HR digital and Workday technology roadmap.
  • Lead a portfolio of Workday optimisation initiatives, enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Apply deep Workday HCM expertise to assess solution designs, challenge recommendations and ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Oversee delivery planning, prioritisation, dependencies, risks, issues, governance, resourcing and senior stakeholder reporting.
  • Manage and challenge systems integrators, application management service providers and specialist suppliers.
  • Work closely with HR, technology and senior business stakeholders to align technology delivery with strategic HR objectives.
  • Ensure technology supports end-to-end HR processes, shared services and employee and manager self-service.
  • Drive improvements in automation, process simplification, user experience, data quality and HR operational efficiency.
  • Lead change, adoption and stakeholder engagement to embed new capabilities across the organisation.
  • Ensure Workday initiatives are coordinated across the wider HR technology landscape.
  • Extensive experience in Workday HCM, with strong knowledge of Core HCM and broad exposure to modules such as Recruiting, Onboarding, Talent, Performance, Learning, Skills, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Help and Reporting.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering HR technology roadmaps or leading Workday optimisation programmes.
  • Strong functional expertise and the confidence to challenge solution design and implementation partners.
  • Demonstrable programme leadership experience, including governance, risk management, dependencies, prioritisation and senior-level reporting.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end HR processes, HR operating models and employee and manager self-service.
  • Experience managing systems integrators, AMS providers and specialist technology suppliers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate between HR, technology and business teams.
  • Evidence of delivering measurable improvements through HR technology and process transformation.
  • Start: flexible
  • Location: Reading, Berkshire, UK, GB
