ICT System Engineer – On-Premises Platform (60 %)

Project overview

For our client from the public sector, we are looking for an experienced ICT System Engineer (m/f/d) to support an existing infrastructure and platform team.

The focus is on the operation and further development of an on-premises infrastructure with an emphasis on VMware, Linux, Windows Server, container technologies, and automation.

You will work in a well-coordinated team, support daily operations, and actively contribute to technical improvements and platform projects.

Responsibilities

• Operation and further development of the existing on-premises platform
• Monitoring, analysis, and resolution of incidents in 2nd and 3rd level support
• Administration and optimization of VMware and Linux/Windows server environments
• Participation in the setup and further development of the container platform (Red Hat OpenShift, Docker)
• Automation of recurring tasks using PowerShell, Ansible/AWX, and CI/CD
• Further development of monitoring, alerting, and observability
• Support with migrations, lifecycle topics, and infrastructure projects
• Maintenance of technical documentation and knowledge transfer to the internal team

• Completed apprenticeship in IT (EFZ with further education, HF/FH or comparable)
• Several years of professional experience as an ICT System Engineer or Platform Engineer
• Good knowledge of VMware or comparable virtualization solutions
• Sound experience with Windows Server and Linux
• Experience with PowerShell, Ansible, or CI/CD automation
• Independent, structured, and reliable way of working
• Very good German skills and understanding of Swiss German
• Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Experience with Proxmox VE and Rocky Linux
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability solutions
• Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam or NetVault
• Experience in larger IT environments or in the public sector
• Assignment: November 2026 to April 2027
• Extension Option: May to October 2027
• Workload: approx. 60 %
• Location: Central Switzerland, predominantly on-site, home office by arrangement within Switzerland
• On-call duty: Not planned
