Project overview

For a short-term infrastructure project, we are looking for an experienced IGEL Consultant / Systems Engineer (m/f/d) to support the migration of an existing Thin Client environment from IGEL OS 11 to IGEL OS 12.

Project Task

Currently, around 300 devices are operated under IGEL OS 11. The goal of the project is professional support for the migration to IGEL OS 12.

A central technical feature:

The IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) used has no internet access. Internet access is also not planned for the future. The migration, including the necessary updates and packages, must therefore be designed and implemented for an offline/isolated environment.

Responsibilities

Analysis of the existing IGEL OS 11 / UMS environment

Planning and preparation of the migration to IGEL OS 12

Support for the migration of approx. 300 end devices

Consideration of the completely offline UMS infrastructure

Development and/or implementation of a suitable procedure for updates and required components without direct internet access

Review of existing configurations and policies for migration capability

Technical support for the migration and error analysis

Documentation of the procedure and relevant configurations

Skills Sought

Requirements

Very good practical experience with IGEL OS 11 and IGEL OS 12

Sound knowledge of the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS)

Demonstrable experience with IGEL OS migrations / upgrades

Experience with offline/isolated or non-internet-enabled system environments

Very good knowledge of Thin Client / Endpoint Management

Experience with rollout, configuration, policies, and troubleshooting in IGEL environments

Structured and independent way of working

German language skills required

Advantageous:

Experience with larger IGEL environments with several hundred endpoints

Experience with standardized rollout and migration concepts

Knowledge of adjacent VDI / EUC technologies
