IT Administrator / Application Support GIS (m/f/d) – Freelance

Project overview

For one of our clients, we are currently looking for an experienced IT Administrator / Application Support (m/f/d) with a focus on GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

We are seeking a technically proficient freelancer who will be responsible for both the administration of the underlying IT systems and the support and operation of GIS applications. The position combines classic IT administration with operational application support and technical support.

Responsibilities

Administration, operation, and monitoring of IT systems relevant to GIS applications

Technical support and ensuring the stable operation of GIS applications and geographic information systems

Installation, configuration, maintenance, and updating of deployed applications

Analysis and resolution of technical issues within the scope of 2nd/3rd level support

Error analysis at the interfaces between application, operating system, database, and infrastructure

Support and management of user accounts, roles, and permissions

Execution and support of updates, patches, and releases

Monitoring of system availability, performance, and interfaces

Support for the integration and connection of GIS applications to existing IT system landscapes

Technical coordination with specialist departments, manufacturers, and other IT units

Documentation of systems, configurations, operating processes, and solutions

Support for the continuous optimization and further development of the GIS system landscape

Professional Requirements

Several years of experience in IT administration and/or application support

Practical experience in the operation and support of GIS systems or GIS applications

Good knowledge in the administration of Windows and/or Linux systems

Experience with installation, configuration, updates, and technical operation of applications

Knowledge in the area of databases, ideally SQL-based databases

Understanding of interfaces, APIs, and system integrations

Experience in structured error analysis and technical application support

Knowledge in the area of user, role, and permission management

Experience with monitoring, logging, and analyzing technical system problems

Knowledge of common GIS technologies and platforms, e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or comparable solutions, is an advantage

Basic understanding of geodata, map services, and GIS-specific data formats is an advantage
