IT Administrator / System Administrator - Vehicle Systems & Telematics

Project overview

For our client in the energy and transport industry, we are currently looking for an experienced freelance IT Administrator / System Administrator – Vehicle Systems & Telematics.

Important Note: Readiness for subsequent permanent employment is mandatory for this project. Therefore, please only apply if a move to permanent employment is fundamentally an option for you.

As part of the integration of the bus companies' IT systems into the IT organization of RhönEnergie, existing vehicle and telematics systems are to be analyzed, planned, tested, and migrated. After successful migration, the project also includes taking over the operation of the systems, including monitoring, patch/release management, backups, and incident/problem management. Readiness for subsequent permanent employment is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of existing vehicle systems and telematics landscape, including hardware, embedded systems, and interfaces
• Creation and implementation of a migration concept, including rollout, integration/system tests, and test and rollback scenarios
• Execution of data and system migration, as well as configuration of on-board computers, switches, routers, VPN, and firewalls
• Ensuring data supply between vehicles and backend, including import, export, synchronization, and data quality
• Taking over operations, including monitoring, patch/release management, backups, and incident/problem management, as well as creating runbooks and operational documentation

Requirements

• Several years of practical experience as an IT/System Administrator, ideally in the context of migration projects
• Sound experience with Linux-based embedded systems, for example, vehicle on-board computers or passenger information systems (FIS)
• Very good knowledge of network technology, especially routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, VLAN, and NAT
• Experience with data migrations, synchronization processes, interface integration, and administration of telematics/vehicle systems
• Experience with the technical integration and commissioning of vehicle and telematics systems, including error analysis and troubleshooting

Nice to have

• Experience with the configuration and support of charging management systems for electric buses
