Description

For a current project in the Defence environment, we are looking for an experienced Java Software Architect (m/f/d) for the conception and further development of complex, business and security-critical software systems.

The focus is on technical architecture, the further development of existing system landscapes, and the definition of sustainable architecture standards in the Java environment.

Responsibilities

Conception and further development of complex software architectures in the Java environment

Definition of technical target architectures and architecture standards

Evaluation of existing system landscapes and derivation of suitable modernization strategies

Development and evaluation of architectural concepts for distributed systems

Definition and further development of interfaces and integration concepts

Technical evaluation and selection of suitable technologies and frameworks

Support for development teams on complex technical issues

Conducting architecture reviews and code reviews

Development of proof of concepts and reference implementations

Ensuring scalability, stability, maintainability, and security

Close collaboration with software development, system engineering, DevOps, and technical decision-makers

What You Should Bring

You have at least five years of practical professional experience in professional software development and have already taken responsibility for the architecture of complex Java systems.

You have sound knowledge of Java and Spring Boot, as well as a very good understanding of modern software architectures.

You have experience with distributed systems, interfaces, microservices, and modern development processes and are able to support architectural decisions both conceptually and technically.

For this project, we are explicitly not looking for a purely conceptual architect. You should continue to work closely with development on a technical level and be able to validate architectural decisions through proof of concepts or your own implementations.

Nice to have

Practical experience in the Defence industry

Experience with security-critical or mission-critical systems

Experience with military software and system landscapes

Existing security clearance Level 1, SÜ1

Experience with System Engineering

Knowledge of C++ or other system-level technologies
