Junior Java Backend & Kernel (CI/CD) Developer

For our client in the public/telematics sector (Toll Collect), we are looking for a dedicated Junior Java Backend Developer (m/f/d) for quick onboarding.

You will be part of a mixed development team of experienced seniors and juniors, which specifically focuses on mutual knowledge transfer and methodical mentoring. Together, you will work on the new development and further development of backend services, system-near components (kernel), and modern CI/CD pipelines for highly available systems.

Responsibilities

Must-Haves

• Backend Development: Participation in the design, implementation, and testing of Java backend components and microservices.
• Kernel & System Integration: Support with system-near interfaces and kernel topics under the guidance of experienced team colleagues.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Assistance in building, maintaining, and automating stable build and deployment pipelines.
• Teamwork & Knowledge Building: Active participation in agile rituals, code reviews, and targeted competence building through mentoring.
• Java Backend: Initial demonstrable practical experience in backend development with Java (e.g., through initial project or working student activities, trainee programs, or relevant theses).
• Kernel & CI/CD Touchpoints: Basic understanding or initial practical experience with system-near topics/kernel environments as well as with common CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Team Spirit & Willingness to Learn: High motivation to familiarize yourself with complex system architectures, as well as very good communication and teamwork skills.
• Language Skills: Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken.

• Initial practical knowledge or interest in using modern AI development tools (e.g., AI-assisted code generation, prompting, copilots).
• Familiarity with containers (Docker) or Linux environments.

Compensation: €500 daily rate
