Project overview

Introduction

For our client, we are looking for a full-time IT Linux Administrator (m/f/d) for a freelance project to support IT operations. This is a freelance project starting on 15.10.2026 and running until 31.12.2026 with an option for extension. Initial training will take place on-site in Frankfurt for 2-3 days, after which the assignment can be predominantly remote by arrangement (approx. 3 days per week). Important note: A completed security clearance SÜ2 Sabotage Protection is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Administration, configuration, and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers
• Support in the setup, maintenance, and optimization of Linux operating standards
• Integration of Linux systems into existing Identity and Access Management structures based on Red Hat Identity Management (IdM)
• Connection of existing and new Red Hat servers to the IdM environment for central authentication, authorization, and management of users, groups, and roles
• Analysis and troubleshooting related to authentication, authorization, and directory service processes
• Administration and maintenance of the Red Hat Satellite infrastructure for central management, provisioning, registration, and patch supply of Linux systems
• Creation and further development of automation solutions using Ansible for standardizing recurring operational and administrative tasks
• Development, adaptation, and maintenance of Ansible Playbooks, Roles, and Inventories
• Support with operating system deployments, configuration management, and lifecycle management of Linux servers
• Performing error analyses as well as incident and problem management in the Linux environment
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, operating manuals, and configuration descriptions
• Knowledge transfer and coordination with the client's operations and infrastructure teams

Requirements

• Sound experience in the administration, configuration, and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers
• Experience with Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) and connecting servers to central authentication and authorization structures
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite for central system management and patch supply
• Experience in automation with Ansible, including Playbooks, Roles, and Inventories
• Experience in incident and problem management in the Linux environment
• Structured way of working and good documentation skills
• Completed security clearance SÜ2 Sabotage Protection is mandatory
